Founded in 2022 by former University of New South Wales students from multicultural backgrounds, Aus-Afritec is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to empowering future professionals in social work and community services through hands-on placement opportunities while providing mental health support to teens and young people from diverse backgrounds. We foste inclusion, cultural awareness, and meaningful community-driven support services.
As a community-based organisation rooted in an Afrocentric approach, Aus-Afritec profoundly emphasises understanding the unique cultural challenges faced by its diverse teens and young adults, particularly young African Australians. By fostering resilience, growth, and connection, we empower individuals to navigate complex societal challenges.
Through our Academic Support Placement Program, Mental Health Support Services, and Community Outreach Initiatives, we:
✔️ Provide hands-on placement to social work and community services students.
✔️ Offer mental health support through trauma-informed counselling and group programs.
✔️ Support teens and young adults with career development and personal growth.
✔️ Promote social inclusion and cultural awareness within diverse communities.
Founded on the belief that education, mental well-being, and community support are key to creating lasting change. Aus-Afritec is committed to ensuring that students, young people, and communities receive the support and opportunities they deserve. We aim to bridge the gap between learning and practice, ensuring that students and communities gain the support, skills, and confidence needed to thrive.
We believe that together, we can create lasting impact. Whether you’re a student looking for experience, a professional seeking to volunteer or a donor wanting to support our mission, there’s a place for you at Aus-Afritec.
🌟 Get Involved. Make a Difference. Be the Change. 🌟
We empower young people to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities by addressing the following:
Our mission extends beyond support. We strive to tackle systemic barriers through advocacy, innovative programs, and community engagement. By addressing intersecting factors like socioeconomic conditions, inequities, and cultural identity, we ensure equitable access to vital resources.
Aus-AfriTec is more than an organisation. It is a movement for change, a hub of connection, and a beacon of hope. As evidenced by the placement success story, we are building stronger, more inclusive communities.
At Aus-AfriTec, our unique Afrocentric approach is at the heart of what we do. It centres on African cultural values, perspectives, and experiences, fostering a sense of identity, belonging, and resilience. Emphasising community-led solutions, we build stronger, inclusive communities. Our motto is Building Communities. Empowering lives.
Together, it reflects our collaborative commitment to uplift individuals, address systemic barriers, and create meaningful, lasting change through unity.
Aus-Afritec Ltd has been established as non-profit organisation to relieve the poverty, disadvantage, distress, misfortune and or suffering experienced by African diaspora living as refugees, migrants, and those born in Australia.
